ENVIRONMENTAL LIFE
Fish eagles soar, canoes gently paddle, a breeze softly blows…
lakemichelle’s heart is a salt marsh lake with indigenous fauna and flora. The lake itself holds three naturally formed islands, inhabited only by otters and waterfowl. Canals and rivulets feed into the lake, criss-crossed by bridges and boardwalks. Water is everywhere.
The preserved marshland is a haven of birdlife (over 120 different species recorded) and gently filters the inflowing streams. A variety of local fish and ducks populate the lake and a rare species of leopard toad can sometimes be seen leaping along “paddagange”.
To maintain the quality and aesthetic of the estate, architectural and landscape guidelines are provided. lakemichelle's southern border separates the estate from the wetland which feeds into the lake.
Phase 8, the undeveloped area alongside the Noordhoek Main Road ahs the last preserved Sarcocornia wetland in the Cape Town Metropolis
lakemichelle's entire north western border runs alongside the protected fynbos of the Table Mountain National Park. Owners of properties on this section of the estate have unrestricted views… all the way to Argentina, interrupted occasionally by a protected milkwood or the old farmhouse on the horizon.
